Catholic Priest with the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo in Benue State Rev. Fr. Peter Amodu has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the State

This was confirmed by the Diocesan Secretariat in a statement signed by the Diocesan Chancellor Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo on Monday

“We write to notify you on the kidnap of Rev. Fr. Peter Amodu a priest of the Holy Ghost Congregation who is working with the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo as Parish Priest of Holy Ghost Parish Eke-Olengbeche”

He stated that the “sad incident occurred on the 6^th July 2022 along Otukpo – Ugbokolo Road Benue State while he was on his way to celebrate Mass at Okwungaga-Ugbokolo”   

The Bishop of the Diocese further called on all Christian faithful in the Diocese and beyond to pray for t his quick and safe release and assured intense effort to ensure his release

All effort to speak with the Benue Police command PRO to comment on the incident were not successful as her phone lines were not connecting

Recall that two Catholic Priest were kidnaped on Sunday in Edo State but were later released on Wednesday while another Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas was kidnaped in Karu local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday
